Ready to Talk Even to Imran Khan’s Worst Enemy: Ali Muhammad Khan

ISLAMABAD (Qudrat Daily) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader Ali Muhammad Khan has said that he is ready to talk even to his worst enemy for PTI founder Imran Khan, and that the government and opposition should restart unconditional negotiations because political issues are resolved through dialogue, not confrontation. Speaking to the media, Ali Muhammad Khan said that Imran Khan’s release is PTI’s primary demand.

Access to the PTI founder should be restored, his transfer to a hospital should be ensured, and hearings of pending cases should begin. Implementation of the Supreme Court’s August 18 verdict could reduce political tension.

The government and opposition should show political flexibility instead of imposing conditions in negotiations and should restart the dialogue process from where it stalled.

According to Ali Muhammad Khan, about 90 percent progress had been made in the negotiations; however, a deadlock emerged on security matters. He expressed hope that Maulana Fazlur Rehman could play the role of mediator between the government and opposition and find a way to revive political negotiations. The PTI leader said that the issue of terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa should be kept separate from political negotiations.

He demanded that the Prime Minister convene a meeting of the Apex Committee in Peshawar, which should also include Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and heads of defense institutions. He stated that a policy to eliminate terrorism should be formulated in light of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly’s recommendations, and federal and provincial governments should adopt a joint strategy. Ali Muhammad Khan said that contact has been made with the relevant leadership to restart the negotiation process. He stressed that the government and opposition must make serious efforts to end political tension and ensure stability in the country.
