Balochistan to Launch Quetta Integrated Security Project with 2,900 Modern Cameras

QUETTA: The Balochistan government has decided to launch the Quetta Integrated Security Project to modernise the province’s security and policing system and strengthen the police’s capacity to effectively respond to terrorism-related challenges.
The decision was taken during a high-level meeting on security and policing chaired by Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti.
The meeting was briefed that 2,900 modern surveillance cameras would be installed across Quetta under the Quetta Green Digital Corridor project. New stations for the Quick Response Force (QRF) would also be established under the Quetta Integrated Security Project.
The Additional Chief Secretary Home and Inspector General of Police Balochistan briefed the meeting on the prevailing security situation and measures being taken to improve policing across the province.
The meeting was informed that reforms and departmental accountability measures were continuing in the Balochistan Police. A total of 871 police personnel had been dismissed over absenteeism and negligence.
It was further informed that the services of 1,005 police personnel deployed with various individuals and personalities had been withdrawn and returned to the police department.
Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti directed the authorities to provide police personnel with modern training and all necessary resources to effectively counter terrorism.
“If we have deployed the police against terrorism, we will also provide them with complete support,” the chief minister said.
He added that the government stood shoulder to shoulder with the brave police and security forces in the fight against terrorism.
The chief minister said the government would control non-development expenditures and utilise available resources for the welfare and betterment of the people.
“We have to work for the ordinary people of Balochistan who shiver in the cold and suffer the scorching heat in summer,” Sarfraz Bugti said.
