Foreign Shipping Companies Flock to Gwadar Port as Free Storage Facility Launched

Gwadar: Gwadar Port has reached a historic milestone in regional maritime and trade activity as the foreign cargo vessel M/V HMO LEADER successfully berthed, carrying 368 metric tons of general transshipment cargo. Amid ongoing tensions in the Gulf region and growing security concerns along traditional shipping routes, international shipping lines are increasingly seeking alternative and safer passages, placing Gwadar Port in the global spotlight.

To attract further international trade, Gwadar Port Authority has introduced a “Free Storage” facility for transshipment cargo. Experts note that the port and its adjoining free zone can simultaneously store 16,000 TEUs and over 90,000 square meters of general cargo, making it one of the region’s safest and most attractive ports.

Speaking on the occasion, Noor-ul-Haq Baloch said that Gwadar is emerging as a secure, efficient, and economically reliable alternative port. He emphasized that the growing interest from international companies demonstrates Gwadar’s established position on the global trade map. Noor-ul-Haq Baloch further stated that incentives like free storage and the port’s modern infrastructure will play a decisive role in promoting Pakistan’s Blue Economy
