KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi Attempted to Sabotage Negotiations: Mohsin Naqvi

Islamabad (Qudrat Daily) — Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has said that in the negotiations held with the opposition, consensus had been reached on almost all matters, but Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi attempted to sabotage the negotiations.

Addressing a press conference in Lahore, Mohsin Naqvi said that the opposition delegation participated in the negotiations in a very excellent manner and tried to find a solution to the problem. Whatever maximum we could achieve and whatever they could achieve in the negotiations had been settled, and the agreement had also been prepared. He said he had taken a copy of the agreement to the President, and had also given a complete briefing to the Prime Minister regarding the negotiations.

Mohsin Naqvi said that there was disagreement on one or two things, but 99 percent of matters had been agreed upon. When he returned after meeting the President, he was told about many changes in the draft. The draft was prepared four times and changed four times.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said, “We told them that if Sohail Afridi was to make the decisions, he should have come to the negotiations himself. After the draft was finalized, the KP Chief Minister said he did not accept it. Sohail Afridi attempted to sabotage the negotiations. If we had known that the KP government would veto the negotiations, we would not have held negotiations at all. When you place unserious and foolish people on such seats, the country suffers the loss. Now there will be no negotiations with the opposition.”

Mohsin Naqvi said, “One thing is absolutely clear: we will not allow a tragedy like May 9 to happen again under any circumstances, no matter how you come. We will get the Islamabad High Court’s order restored in every case, and if any harm occurs, the responsibility will rest solely and only on Sohail Afridi.”

He said that in yesterday’s meeting as well, he had made clear to the opposition delegation that if they want to protest, they may certainly do so, but we will not allow an assault on Islamabad under any circumstances. Whichever worker or leader participating in the protest is arrested will face full legal action. If PTI members break the law, we will not let them go but will pursue them.
