Drugs Worth Rs5.41 Billion Seized Near M-2 Motorway in Islamabad, Suspects Escape

Islamabad: Customs Enforcement, operating under the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), has foiled an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of narcotics, recovering drugs worth approximately Rs5.41 billion near the M-2 Motorway.

According to officials, the anti-smuggling squad seized 1,200 kilograms of hashish, with an estimated international market value of Rs5.4 billion, during an operation based on a tip-off.

Customs officials said the operation was conducted at around 2:30 a.m. on October 2. During the raid, authorities also recovered approximately 100 kilograms of poppy seeds, firearms and a non-customs-paid 2005 Toyota Prado, which was allegedly being used to transport the narcotics.

Officials said the suspects managed to flee the scene under the cover of darkness.

A case has been registered against the unidentified suspects under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act, 1997, and the Customs Act, 1969, and further investigation is underway.
