Political Engineering and Artificial Arrangements Have Pushed Balochistan into a Swamp of Destruction: Maulana Abdul Wasey

QUETTA (Daily Qudrat Quetta) — Provincial Amir of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Balochistan, Senator Maulana Abdul Wasey, and General Secretary Maulana Agha Mehmood Shah have said that experiments have been carried out to keep Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam away from power — sometimes by handing power to nationalist forces, sometimes to newly formed artificial parties, and sometimes to political groups rejected in the past — but all these experiments not only failed badly, but as a result, Balochistan sank further into the swamp of political, economic, and administrative backwardness.
They said that Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Balochistan is a true and popular political force of the people, which is still present in the political arena with full perseverance across the length and breadth of the province, with its past outstanding performance, record of public service, and a clear political case. The youth of Balochistan is afflicted with anxiety, uncertainty, and deprivation; the backwardness and basic problems of the province are hidden from no one, yet elements held captive by personal and political interests have adopted criminal silence on public issues.
Even in the twenty-first century, the people of Balochistan are deprived of education, health, employment, clean water, electricity, communications, and other basic human necessities, even though this very province has the full potential to change Pakistan’s economic destiny in terms of natural resources, geographical location, and human capability.
They said that those who reach the seat of power by ambushing the public mandate cannot be the true public representatives of Balochistan in any democratic and constitutional sense, nor do the people of Balochistan consider such an artificial arrangement as their true mandate.
The objective conditions of Balochistan demand that, instead of political engineering, artificial majority, and restrictions on the public mandate, the true democratic process should be restored, the people’s genuine right to vote should be respected, and the true public mandate of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam should be returned so that Balochistan can be put on the true path of political stability, constitutional supremacy, economic development, and public prosperity.
