Hazara Democratic Party Calls Targeted Killing in Hazarganji Continuation of “Genocide”, Demands Immediate Justice

Quetta: The Hazara Democratic Party (HDP) has strongly condemned the targeted killing of poor Hazara vegetable sellers in the Hazarganji area of Western Bypass, calling it a continuation of what it described as genocide against the Hazara community.
In a statement, the party said the daylight killing of unarmed civilians is evidence of ongoing violence against the Hazara people, adding that both the government and state institutions appear to have failed in providing security. The HDP said repeated attacks on Hazara laborers within a month raise serious questions about the performance of security agencies.
The party warned that it appears once again the citizens of Quetta and the Hazara community are being left at the mercy of unknown militants, adding that such incidents have revived fears of insecurity after a brief period of relative peace.
The statement emphasized that protecting the lives and property of citizens is the responsibility of the state, and warned of “serious consequences” if immediate and effective action is not taken to prevent further incidents.
The HDP urged residents of Quetta to maintain peace, tolerance, and unity, and warned against elements attempting to spread hatred or instability in the region under external influences.
The party demanded that the perpetrators of the Hazarganji incident be arrested immediately and brought to justice, and called for a transparent investigation to identify those behind the attack.
According to the statement, party workers staged a protest sit-in on the bypass under the leadership of Deputy Central Secretary General Ismat Yari and Muhammad Raza Hazara, while also expressing condolences to the families of the victims.
