Two More Children Die of Rabies in Sindh, Death Toll Rises to 37

KARACHI: Two more children have died of rabies in Sindh, taking the total number of rabies-related deaths in the province to 37, according to hospital authorities.

The latest deaths were reported at Indus Hospital Karachi, where a six-year-old girl, Abia, daughter of Nauman, and a four-year-old boy, Waqar, son of Sultan, died after contracting rabies.

According to hospital officials, Abia was a resident of Airport Road, Latifabad, Hyderabad, while Waqar belonged to Razi Khan village in Dadu district. Both children had not received the rabies prevention vaccine after being bitten by dogs.

Hospital authorities said 28 people have so far died of rabies at Indus Hospital Karachi, while one death was reported at Indus Hospital Badin and eight at Jinnah Hospital Karachi.

Officials further said more than 14,000 dog-bite cases have been reported at Indus Hospital Karachi. Meanwhile, Jinnah Hospital Karachi and Civil Hospital Karachi have each reported around 11,000 dog-bite cases so far.
