SP Shahr Bano Naqvi Denies Allegations Made by Dr. Ali Zain

Islamabad (Daily Qudrat): Senior Police Officer SP Shahr Bano Naqvi has refuted serious allegations made by Lahore-based Dr. Ali Zain Al-Abidin, who accused her of coercing him to pay millions of rupees to a patient.
According to reports, Dr. Ali Zain claimed that SP Shahr Bano Naqvi forced him to pay additional money for a patient’s eye laser surgery, which he said had been performed correctly in April. He alleged that the officer instructed him to compensate the patient so she could have the surgery done elsewhere, and that under police pressure he issued three cheques totaling over one million rupees. Dr. Ali Zain further alleged that police illegally summoned his clinic staff to the station and detained them, asserting that police had no authority to judge the quality of medical procedures without a medical board’s assessment.
However, SP Shahr Bano Naqvi categorically denied the claims of harassment and coercion. She stated that Dr. Ali Zain had visited her office once and was only asked to resolve matters with the patient. She emphasized that no mistreatment or undue pressure was applied to him.
The incident highlights a dispute between law enforcement and a medical professional regarding patient-related financial and procedural matters, which remains under scrutiny.
