BYD Hits Major Milestone as 10,000 Vehicles Reach Pakistani Roads

Karachi: Mega Motor Company (MMC), the official partner of BYD in Pakistan, has announced that 10,000 BYD vehicles have now reached Pakistani roads, marking a significant milestone for the company and the country’s emerging new energy vehicle (NEV) market.
The achievement represents one of the notable examples of a new brand rapidly establishing itself in Pakistan’s NEV segment. According to MMC, the milestone reflects growing demand among Pakistani consumers for new energy vehicles and increasing confidence in the technology.
BYD-MMC has established a strong presence in the Pakistani market even before the start of local vehicle assembly. The company initially launched the BYD Atto 3 and BYD Seal in Pakistan and has since expanded its lineup to five models.
The current lineup includes the Atto 2, described by the company as Pakistan’s best-selling electric vehicle, as well as the Sealion 7 and Shark 6, which is described as Pakistan’s first plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) pickup.
MMC Chief Executive Officer Ali Khan said crossing the 10,000-vehicle milestone was not merely a numerical achievement but also reflected the company’s progress in developing the infrastructure needed to support NEVs in Pakistan.
He said MMC had focused from the beginning on building long-term capacity, infrastructure and market presence to promote the widespread adoption of new energy vehicles in the country.
Ali Khan added that MMC was proud of its partnership with BYD and said both companies had worked together to advance their shared vision for Pakistan’s automotive future.
He said MMC was now preparing to establish Pakistan’s first and largest NEV assembly plant, describing the project as a new chapter in the company’s commitment to the future of the automotive industry in Pakistan.
BYD’s growing sales also indicate increasing consumer interest in new energy vehicles. Although Pakistan’s NEV market remains at an early stage, the 10,000-vehicle milestone demonstrates demand for BYD-MMC products across different consumer segments, according to the company.
BYD Vice President and General Manager of the Asia-Pacific Auto Sales Division Liu Xueliang said Pakistan was rapidly becoming an important market in BYD’s global business expansion.
He said the confidence shown by Pakistani consumers in the BYD brand was particularly significant, adding that every customer adopting new energy technology strengthened the company’s commitment to the Pakistani market.
Liu said BYD, together with MMC, would continue working to introduce models suited to the needs of Pakistani consumers and improve customer support throughout the ownership experience.
The company said it would continue bringing international-standard technology and innovation to Pakistan while expanding its presence in line with changing consumer needs.
Meanwhile, construction of the BYD-MMC assembly plant is underway. The facility is planned as a major modern plant dedicated specifically to the production of new energy vehicles.
The plant is expected to mark another important phase in the development of Pakistan’s NEV sector by supporting a shift from imported new energy vehicles towards local manufacturing.
