Police Detained Us for Around Two and a Half Hours, Then Sent Cousins and Staff Back: Aleema Khan’s Son

LAHORE: Shabbir Shah, the son of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan, has alleged that police detained him for around two and a half hours during a recent operation and later took his aunt away separately.
Speaking to the media, Shabbir Shah said police questioned him about his identity while he was in custody. He said his cousins and staff members were subsequently allowed to leave, while his aunt was taken away.
He alleged that taking someone into custody without prior notice, providing reasons for the detention or showing a legal order could amount to abduction. He claimed that three sisters were allegedly taken away in a similar manner.
Shabbir Shah questioned whether it was legally justified to take women from their homes at around 1:30am, in front of their children, without providing any clear reason.

He further claimed that an attempt was made to take two young children along during the operation, but they were not taken after their mother objected.
According to Shabbir Shah, family members and lawyers have not been given access to the women, despite an application having already been filed in this regard. He said another application would also be submitted.
He also claimed that the family had been unable to provide the women with their required medicines and questioned why they were allegedly being denied access to both their families and legal counsel.
