“Imran Khan and His Wife Are in Jail, His Sisters Have Been Arrested — How Can Economic Stability Come?”: Asad Umar

Islamabad: Former Finance Minister Asad Umar has said that former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife are in jail and his sisters have been arrested, so how can economic stability be achieved? He stated that the past four years have been the weakest years for Pakistan’s economic growth.
Speaking on a private TV program, he said that the last four years have been the weakest four years for Pakistan’s economic growth. He asked when they will understand that no matter how hard they work, no matter how many IMF agreements they sign, or how many SIFC bodies they create, economic growth cannot happen until the political crisis is resolved.

He said that until the political crisis and its root causes are addressed, no matter how many IMF programs are undertaken or how many SIFC initiatives are launched, economic growth is not possible. He urged them to consider a foreign investor who wants to invest in Pakistan — but what is the global news feed showing them? The news reaching them is that the former prime minister is in jail, his wife is in jail.
He added that Imran Khan’s sisters have been arrested, his children were arrested and released after a few days. He noted that this wave of arrests has been ongoing for the past three weeks, with raids being conducted on homes at the union level in Islamabad. He questioned how, under such circumstances, anyone can expect economic stability to come to the country.
