Four Women from Imran Khan’s Family Arrested; Hamid Mir Draws Historical Comparison
ISLAMABAD: Senior journalist and analyst Hamid Mir has drawn a historical comparison following the arrests of three sisters of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, saying that four women from Khan’s family have now been detained.
In a post on social media platform X, Hamid Mir referred to Pakistan’s political history and said that during the military rule of former president General Zia-ul-Haq, two women from the Bhutto family had been arrested.
He further noted that during Imran Khan’s own government, one woman from the Sharif family, Maryam Nawaz, and one woman from the Zardari family, Faryal Talpur, had been detained.

According to Mir, in the current period, Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi and his three sisters—Aleema Khan, Dr Uzma Khan and Noreen Niazi—have been arrested.
The comparison came after Imran Khan’s three sisters were reportedly arrested in Lahore under the Maintenance of Public Order (3-MPO) law.
Mir’s remarks have prompted discussion about the treatment of women belonging to the families of political leaders and the use of arrests and detention in Pakistan’s political history.
