Hiba Fawad Condemns Shafi Jan’s Remarks Against Azma Bokhari

ISLAMABAD:Hiba Fawad, wife of former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry, has strongly condemned the language used by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Shafi Jan against Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari.

In a post on X, Hiba Fawad described Shafi Jan’s remarks as “highly condemnable and shameful,” saying that political differences were one thing, but insulting a woman was unacceptable under any circumstances.

“Shafi Jan, just one question: Would you use the same language for your own mother, sister or daughter?” she asked. She urged political opponents to criticize one another while maintaining decency and respecting boundaries.

Hiba Fawad said disagreement was part of politics, but insulting women could not be justified. She demanded that Shafi Jan clarify his words and apologize for what she described as inappropriate language, stressing that women must be treated with respect.

### Shafi Jan Demands Apology From Maryam Nawaz

The controversy followed remarks by KP Information Minister Shafi Jan in the KP Assembly, where he demanded an apology from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz over her alleged remarks about Pashtuns.

Shafi Jan said Maryam Nawaz would have to apologize and claimed that she had referred to Pashtuns as “savages.” He said that if she liked “savages” so much, “we can send them,” adding that he would continue demanding an apology from her.

He also criticized Maryam Nawaz over remarks concerning the security threat to Punjab, alleging that her statement gave Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi a “clean chit.”

Shafi Jan claimed that saying Punjab faced a threat from neighboring provinces rather than a neighboring country amounted to disregarding India’s alleged aggression and contradicting Pakistan’s national narrative regarding India.

He further referred to controversies including Dawn Leaks and Memogate, alleging that the nation remembered such incidents. He also accused the Punjab government of using various tactics against PTI workers and political opponents while, according to him, failing to criticize Modi.

### Shafi Jan Issues Warning Over September 27

Shafi Jan also criticized PML-N leader Rana Sanaullah over his references to another possible May 9 incident. He alleged that Sanaullah’s political mindset was shaped by incidents such as Model Town and Muridke.

He further referred to allegations that had previously been levelled against Sanaullah regarding alleged electoral contacts with banned organizations and their members, saying he should first account for his past before pointing fingers at others.

Shafi Jan also issued a warning regarding the PTI’s planned political activity on September 27.

“We will come from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on September 27. If you can stop us, then stop us,” he said, adding that those who described Attock as a “red line” had already been told that no red line could stop a public political struggle.
