Five Militants, Including ISKP Commander, Killed in CTD Operation in Peshawar

PESHAWAR:Five key militants, including a commander of the banned Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP), were killed during a Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) operation in the Armar area near Shamshatoo Camp in Peshawar.

The deceased militants included Imran, a senior commander of the banned ISKP. According to the CTD, the militants were planning major attacks on sensitive institutions, imambargahs and churches.

The CTD said weapons and explosives recovered from the five militants included an SMG, four pistols, two hand grenades, a locally made improvised explosive device (IED), five magazines and several rounds of ammunition.

According to CTD officials, Imran alias Abu Bakr was a proclaimed offender wanted in 20 cases involving terrorism, bomb blasts and targeted killings.

The CTD said Imran was also wanted in connection with the killings of Maulana Khan Zeb, Senator Hidayatullah and Rehan Zeb, as well as the suicide attack on the Tarli Imambargah on February 6, 2026.

According to the department, Imran had arranged a suicide jacket from Bajaur for the Tarli attack and transported the suicide bomber from Nowshera to Tarli.

The CTD said a reward of Rs12 million had been announced for information leading to Imran’s arrest or tracing him.

A search and clearance operation is currently underway in the area, according to the CTD.
