Balochistan Schools Still Without Desks Three Months After CM’s Announcement

QUETTA:The Balochistan government has failed to implement within three months its announcement to provide desks to schools across the province.

A majority of schools in Balochistan still lack desks, forcing students to sit on traditional floor mats, commonly known as *tat*, while attending classes.

Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti had announced the provision of desks to schools within three months as part of efforts to end the *tat* culture in educational institutions. However, the announcement has yet to be implemented.

Director of Schools Akhtar Khetran said a summary regarding the desk provision project had been submitted to the government. He added that desks would be provided to schools once the required funds were released.
