No Personal or Financial Dispute With Aleema or Uzma Khan, Says Sher Afzal Marwat

Islamabad — PTI leader Sher Afzal Khan Marwat has said he has no personal or financial dispute with Aleema Khan or Uzma Khan and only responded after statements were issued against him.

Speaking in a programme, he said: “I have no personal or financial dispute with Ms Aleema Khan or Ms Uzma Khan. I myself joined protests with Ms Aleema Khan in Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Later, statements against me came out four times in a row, after which I felt it necessary to state my position.”

He added that his only request to the sisters was that when journalists ask them about him and they reply, the matter becomes a public spectacle.

Marwat said he campaigned across the country for the party in difficult times, encouraged people and did work that others were not able to do at the time. “But as soon as the situation changed, and those who had been in hiding came forward, a campaign of character assassination was launched against me — perhaps because my political graph was rising more than theirs. If they gained anything from it, congratulations.”

He also said that on 27 September a convoy from Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and districts near Islamabad should move towards Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Adiala Jail, while people in major cities of other provinces should hold sit-ins and block roads. A separate protest, he said, should also be organised in Sindh.

Marwat further suggested that instead of spending more time in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the chief minister should have visited Attock, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Chakwal, Jhelum and Talagang, where large populations could have provided stronger support for the march.
