Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz Stops Down Payment for Students Under Electric Bike Scheme

LAHORE:Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed authorities not to collect any down payment from students under the CM Electric Bike Scheme.
A meeting chaired by Maryam Nawaz agreed on a proposal to set the monthly installment for students at Rs3,000 under the scheme.
The meeting also approved expanding the scheme to government employees, the general public and delivery riders.
The Punjab government will bear the interest and insurance costs for the electric bikes. Students will also receive a free helmet and safety rod along with the bikes, while two days of free training will be provided to help them operate the electric motorcycles safely.
The government will take steps to ensure that students receive their electric bikes within six weeks.
Maryam Nawaz directed officials to waive the down payment for students and ordered the opening of the e-bike portal within the current week.
