Quetta Bans Sale of Loose Dry Milk, Violators to Face Arrest and Shop Sealing

QUETTA: The sale of loose dry milk has been completely banned in Quetta, with authorities ordering strict legal action against those who violate the ban.

A meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Quetta Deputy Commissioner on the directives of the Balochistan chief minister to review the sale of loose dry milk and its potential harmful effects.

The district administration said packets and containers of loose dry milk often do not carry essential information such as expiry dates, ingredients and other required details. It warned that consumption of unsafe milk could pose serious health risks, particularly to children.

The administration directed all shopkeepers across the city to immediately stop selling loose dry milk. It said that if loose dry milk is found at any shop or warehouse, legal action would be taken against the responsible individuals.

Violators will be arrested and the concerned shop will be sealed, the administration said. The ban also applies to the sale of loose dry milk at medical stores.

Authorities will conduct strict inspections of medical stores across Quetta. Joint teams comprising officials from the Food Authority, Health Department and district administration have been formed to carry out enforcement operations.

The administration made it clear that action against the sale of loose dry milk would continue without discrimination throughout the city.
