Quetta Crackdown on Illegal Mini Petrol Pumps: 63 Sealed, 72 Arrested

QUETTA: The district administration has launched a major crackdown against illegal mini petrol pumps operating in populated areas of Quetta, sealing 63 outlets and arresting 72 people for alleged violations.

The action was carried out on the directives of Quetta Deputy Commissioner Mehrullah Badini in several parts of the city, including Pashtunabad, Joint Road, Sarki Road, Faqir Muhammad Road, Mian Ghundi Road, Kasi Road, Alamdar Chowk, Airport Road, Nohesar Killi, Samungli and Kharotabad.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner City Muhammad Amir Hamza, Assistant Commissioner Sadar Muhammad Yousaf Hashmi, Assistant Commissioner Kachlak Captain (retd) Kabir Mazari and Special Magistrate Ejaz Hussain Khosa, with teams from the district administration and relevant departments taking part.

According to the district administration, the crackdown against mini petrol pumps in residential and populated areas has been intensified following the recent Pishin Stop incident.

Officials said illegal mini petrol pumps would not be tolerated in populated areas, keeping in view the safety of citizens and the risk of fires and other accidents.

Deputy Commissioner Mehrullah Badini directed the concerned officers to continue action against illegal mini petrol pumps without interruption and ensure the protection of public life and property.

Meanwhile, some mini petrol pump owners told the media that the sealed outlets would allegedly reopen within a day or two after the relevant police station sees an increase in its “monthly” payments.
