Jam Kamal Khan Voices Concern Over Unequal Distribution of Development Funds in Balochistan

Quetta: Federal Minister for Commerce and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Jam Kamal Khan has expressed serious concern over what he described as the unequal distribution of development funds in Balochistan.

In a statement, the former Chief Minister of Balochistan said that development funds should be allocated in a fair and equitable manner across the province. He alleged that billions of rupees had been allocated to a few selected districts, while several others had been completely overlooked in the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP).

Jam Kamal further claimed that in some areas, development schemes proposed by unelected individuals had been included while elected public representatives were ignored.

The federal minister said that balanced development requires resources to be distributed on the basis of objective criteria such as public need, population, the economic contribution of each district, and the level of underdevelopment, rather than political preferences.

He warned that such disparities could further aggravate Balochistan’s already fragile situation.

It is worth noting that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP)-led coalition government in Balochistan includes the PML-N as one of its coalition partners.

Jam Kamal urged the Chief Minister of Balochistan to act as a representative of the entire province and all coalition partners by ensuring equal treatment and balanced development opportunities for every district.
