WhatsApp Voice Message Transcription Feature Now Available in Pakistan

WhatsApp’s voice message transcription feature is now available in Pakistan, enabling users to convert voice messages into text. This feature proves useful when you are unable to listen to voice messages. However, it needs to be manually activated.
To enable this feature, you must go to the app’s chat settings. Tap the three dots menu at the top right of your chats screen, then navigate to **Settings > Chats > Voice Message Transcripts**. Ensure that your WhatsApp is updated to the latest version, as the option for voice message transcriptions will not appear on older versions.
Currently, only English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Russian languages are supported for transcription. This means that voice messages in Urdu cannot yet be transcribed, but you can easily use this feature for voice messages in English. There are hopes that WhatsApp will expand its support to languages like Urdu and Hindi in the future.
Once you select your preferred language, WhatsApp will download a file for that language to enable transcription. For instance, the English language file is approximately 138 MB. After the file is downloaded, you can start transcribing voice messages in English.
As shown in the screenshots above, the feature doesn’t always correctly transcribe every voice message, even in English. For example, it failed to recognize a message saying “Hellooooo,” but it correctly transcribed “Hello, how are you?” As this feature is still relatively new, it is expected that improvements will be made to address these issues soon.
