Weather Department Forecasts Cold and Dry Weather Across Pakistan
Islamabad: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast cold and dry weather for most parts of the country, with temperatures expected to drop 5-7 degrees below normal on Friday and Saturday.
According to the weather update, continental winds are prevailing in the majority of the country, while a shallow westerly wave is affecting the upper regions. In the aftermath of heavy snowfall in Khanozai, Balochistan, travelers are waiting for the clearance of the main highway.
On Thursday, December 12, the weather will remain cold and dry across most regions, with a possibility of light rain and snowfall in parts of Gilgit-Baltistan, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Kashmir during the morning hours. Murree and Galiyat may also experience light rain and snow. Additionally, light fog is expected in some areas of southern Punjab and upper Sindh during the morning.
From December 13 to 14 (Friday and Saturday), a cold wave is expected to grip most parts of the country. Early morning temperatures in the plains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and upper Punjab may experience a significant drop. The cold wave could lead to temperatures falling 5-7 degrees below normal.
On Sunday, December 15, the weather will be primarily cold and dry, with extremely cold conditions in the mountainous regions. There is also a chance of frost in the plains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and upper Punjab.
The forecast for December 16 and 17 (Monday and Tuesday) predicts cold and dry conditions for most parts of the country, with partially cloudy weather expected in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir. Frost is likely in the early mornings of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and upper Punjab’s plains.
