Vegetables Continue to Sell at High Prices in Lahore Markets
Lahore: Vegetables continue to be sold at inflated prices in the markets of Lahore, despite government-set price lists. According to the official price list, tomatoes are priced at 113 PKR per kilogram, but are being sold in the market for 160 PKR per kilogram. Similarly, potatoes are listed at 104 PKR per kilogram, yet are available for 120 PKR per kilogram in local markets. Onions, which are officially priced at 113 PKR per kilogram, are being sold for 150 PKR per kilogram. Garlic, listed at 650 PKR per kilogram by the government, is being sold for 670 PKR per kilogram in markets. Consumers continue to face challenges with high prices, causing concerns over affordability and price control.
