Sohas Ali Khan Reveals Her Mother’s Advice Against Marrying an Actor

Bollywood’s former renowned actress Sharmila Tagore and legendary cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi’s daughter, Soha Ali Khan, recently revealed that her mother had strongly advised her against marrying an actor. In a recent podcast, Soha shared that her mother, the famous actress Sharmila Tagore, had cautioned her not to marry an actor, expressing concern over the complexities that could arise from such a union.
Soha explained that her mother feared that marriages between individuals from the same industry might lead to complications. She believed that actors often have strong egos and experience mood swings, which could make married life difficult. According to Soha, her mother was worried that the emotional ups and downs actors face, especially when caught up in their successes or failures, could create unnecessary pressure in a relationship.
Despite her mother’s concerns, Soha Ali Khan eventually married actor Kunal Kemmu in 2015 after a 9-year-long relationship. The couple is now happily married and has a daughter named Inaaya.
Soha also shed light on how her parents’ contrasting personalities shaped her upbringing. She described her father, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, as a calm and composed person who never raised his voice or showed anger. Soha believes she inherited this serene nature from her father. On the other hand, she described her mother, Sharmila Tagore, as more sensitive and emotional, who did not hesitate to express her feelings and could sometimes be strict.
Sharmila Tagore, one of the finest actresses of her time, was known for being one of the highest-paid actresses in the industry. She converted to Islam and married the famous cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, later adopting the name Ayesha Sultana after marriage. The couple married on December 27, 1968.
