Sindh CM Orders Creation of Portal to Report Karachi’s Civic Issues, Approves Road Cutting Permits Only by Mayor and Commissioner

Karachi:In an effort to address Karachi’s growing civic issues, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has instructed the creation of a dedicated online portal to report urban problems and announced that road cutting permits will now be granted only by the Mayor and Commissioner of Karachi.

During a key meeting held at the CM House on Thursday, which was attended by provincial ministers, Karachi’s Mayor, and other relevant officials, discussions were held on critical issues like drainage systems, illegal encroachments, road cutting, cleanliness, security, and traffic management.

Murad Ali Shah emphasized that the ongoing road cutting in three districts of the city was causing significant difficulties for citizens, especially since many of these roads had been recently constructed. It was revealed that local towns had previously permitted road cutting, prompting the CM to decide that, moving forward, only the Mayor and Commissioner of Karachi would have the authority to approve such actions.

The CM also instructed the Karachi Commissioner to enhance the monitoring of civic issues to ensure better management. In addition, he announced the establishment of a special “Karachi Issues Portal” at the CM House, where Assistant and Deputy Commissioners would upload reports related to drainage, encroachments, and cleanliness.

Further, Murad Ali Shah directed the Chief Secretary to increase police patrols for improved security, especially during the Eid shopping season, and to make special arrangements for the convenience of citizens.

The Chief Minister also instructed Karachi’s Mayor to beautify four major markets and their surrounding areas by the end of the year and to construct seating areas across the city to enhance public comfort. These steps are part of the ongoing effort to improve the city’s infrastructure and services for its residents.
