Pakistan’s security sources reported that forces are continuing their operation in the area, as terrorists have taken innocent passengers, including women and children, hostage.
After the terrorist attack on Jaffar Express in Balochistan, security forces launched a successful operation and rescued more than 350 passengers. According to security sources, the terrorists targeted civilians at Dhadar, halting the train in a tunnel and taking passengers hostage.
Security sources said that at Bolan Pass, Dhadar, terrorists attacked Jaffar Express and targeted innocent citizens. The attackers stopped the train inside the tunnel and took 400 passengers hostage.
Despite the difficult terrain and the area’s remoteness, security forces surrounded the location and initiated a clearance operation. The successful operation resulted in the rescue of over 350 passengers, while the terrorists fled towards the mountains.
Sources revealed that some terrorists took hostages as human shields while security forces continued to pursue them.
Security sources reported that terrorists had taken women and children as shields, and forces had encircled them. Gunfire exchanges were ongoing, and due to the challenging terrain, the operation was being conducted with extreme caution.
Sources also highlighted that anti-state social media networks, including Indian platforms, were spreading false propaganda to create panic.
Security officials stated that the terrorists were in contact with foreign facilitators, and the clearance operation would continue until all terrorists were eliminated.
According to railway officials, Jaffar Express departed from Quetta at 9 AM and was halted at Tunnel No. 8, where the attack occurred at around 1:15 PM. The train was en route from Quetta to Peshawar and had nine bogies with more than 430 passengers.
Railway sources confirmed that during the attack, the terrorists opened heavy fire, creating an atmosphere of fear and chaos. The train driver was killed due to the firing.
Railway officials reported that Jaffar Express had 235 passengers in economy class, 41 in AC lower, 24 in AC business, and six in AC sleeper class.
Spokesperson for the Balochistan government, Shahid Rind, confirmed that emergency measures were in place, and ambulances had been dispatched to the scene. Due to the mountainous terrain, reaching the site was proving difficult.
According to reports, at least three children were killed in the terrorist attack, while four terrorists have been neutralized during the security operation.
Security sources emphasized that these terrorists have no connection to Islam, Pakistan, or Balochistan, and the forces are committed to rescuing hostages safely.
Meanwhile, railway authorities have lost contact with the train crew and passengers, raising concerns about further casualties.
The Balochistan government has urged citizens to remain calm and avoid believing in rumors and misinformation.
