FBR Chairman Rashid Mehmood Langrial: Efforts Underway to Curb Smuggling and Enhance Customs Operations

Islamabad:Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Rashid Mehmood Langrial, stated that comprehensive efforts are being made to eliminate smuggling in the country. He emphasized that Pakistan Customs is implementing modern technology and accelerating the process of digitization to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency. He noted that securing borders is a critical component in the national security framework of a modern state.
Langrial further pointed out that the global supply chain has become highly complex, and while technology can improve systems, it is essential to also focus on strengthening organizational integrity. He highlighted the positive feedback received regarding the Face-Less Assessment System at the Karachi Port, a step towards streamlining customs clearance processes.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif had inaugurated the “Face-Less Customs Assessment System” at Karachi Port on January 8, marking a significant leap towards automation in Pakistan’s customs clearance procedures.
