Shah Rukh Khan Refuses Interest on Investment in ‘Ittefaq,’ Calls It ‘Haram

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan turned down interest on the money he invested in filmmaker Renu Chopra’s movie *Ittefaq*, saying that the money was “Haram” for him. Renu Chopra, wife of the late filmmaker Ravi Chopra and producer of the film, revealed that Shah Rukh Khan supported the movie despite being in financial difficulties himself at the time.

In a conversation with Indian media, Renu Chopra shared that Shah Rukh Khan agreed to invest in the film in 2017, even before reading the script. She mentioned that she had told Shah Rukh about her financial struggles, to which the Bollywood king replied, “I will invest the money.”

After the film was completed, all the investors took money with interest. However, Shah Rukh refused to take interest, saying that it was “Haram” for him, so he wouldn’t accept the return on his investment.

*Ittefaq* was the directorial debut of Abhay Chopra and starred Sidharth Malhotra, Akshaye Khanna, and Sonakshi Sinha in lead roles. The film was successful at the box office, grossing 51.47 crore Indian rupees.

Shah Rukh Khan is set to appear in his upcoming film *King*, directed by Siddharth Anand. The movie also stars his daughter Suhana Khan and Abhishek Bachchan in pivotal roles. During an event at Dubai’s Global Village, Shah Rukh shared that the film would be shot in both Dubai and Mumbai. He also mentioned that the director, Siddharth Anand, is very strict and has instructed everyone not to reveal anything about the film. However, he assured the audience that the film would be entertaining and enjoyable.
