Quetta: Female students at the Population Welfare Department Regional Training Institute of Quetta, Balochistan, have been deprived of their scholarship stipends for the past five months. The students, visibly distressed, have appealed for action, citing significant financial strain impacting their daily lives.
The training program, spanning two years, allocates 35 seats monthly with an scholarship stipend of eleven thousand rupees. However, over 15 students have been excluded from receiving these funds for more than five months, leading to severe difficulties in affording transport, meals, and other essential expenses, especially for those residing in hostels and from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
Expressing their concerns, the students warned that if the issue is not promptly addressed, they may be forced to discontinue their education or seek alternative means of funding. They have formally petitioned the Secretary of the Population Welfare Department in Quetta to intervene urgently, ensuring that their rights are upheld and they can focus on their studies without undue financial stress.
