Quetta Introduces Positive Terminology on Report Cards to Boost Student Morale
Quetta:In a groundbreaking move aimed at promoting student well-being and academic motivation, the District Education Officer (DEO) of Quetta has announced a significant change in the wording used on the report cards of students in both public and private educational institutions. Starting from the academic year 2025, the term “Pass” will be replaced with “Progress” and “Fail” will be replaced with “Retained.”
The DEO stated that this initiative is designed to enhance self-esteem, reduce depression, alleviate mental stress, and decrease the dropout ratio. Additionally, the move aims to ensure that all students have access to education and improve the overall quality of education in Quetta district.
The shift in terminology is part of a broader effort to create a more supportive learning environment where students are encouraged to see setbacks not as failures, but as opportunities for growth. The new language on report cards is expected to motivate students to perform better while also reducing the stigma associated with academic struggles.
The DEO emphasized that the goal of the initiative is not only to improve academic results but also to provide every student with a fair chance of success, irrespective of their past academic challenges. This progressive step reflects a commitment to fostering an educational culture where learning is seen as a continuous journey rather than a final destination.
