PTI Leader Shaikh Waqas Akram Questions Islamabad High Court’s Order, Demands Clarity

Islamabad:Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shaikh Waqas Akram has stated that the party has not received any order from the Islamabad High Court regarding the November 24th protest, and questioned how they could comply with it without being informed of the court’s decision.
In an appearance on *Geo News*’s program *Naya Pakistan*, Shaikh Waqas Akram said, “We have not been told what the court’s decision is. How can we follow an order we have not received?” He further added that it is the court’s responsibility to protect their fundamental rights, asserting that the judicial system must ensure the safeguarding of citizens’ rights in such matters.
Akram also mentioned that PTI had engaged with the government and emphasized that they should have addressed the party’s legitimate demands instead of blocking peaceful protests.
It is worth noting that last week, the Islamabad High Court ruled on a petition against PTI’s planned protest on November 24. The court’s order prohibited the administration from allowing the protest to take place. In its written ruling, the court noted that the President of Belarus was scheduled to visit on the same day, and the government’s recently enacted measures regarding protests were clear and in effect.
The ruling stated that no protests or sit-ins would be permitted in Islamabad on November 24th due to the potential disruption caused by such activities. The court directed the administration to take all necessary actions to maintain public order, ensuring that the law is upheld and that the citizens’ daily lives and businesses remain unaffected.
The ruling has sparked controversy, with PTI leaders like Shaikh Waqas Akram arguing that the decision violates their right to protest and that the government should have engaged with their demands more constructively.
