PTI Allegedly Supplying Weapons to Workers for Tomorrow’s Protest, Claims Punjab Information Minister
Lahore: The Punjab government has accused the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) of providing weapons to its workers ahead of tomorrow’s planned protest. In a press conference, Punjab’s Information Minister Azma Bukhari claimed that “reliable sources” confirmed PTI’s plans to disrupt public order by arming Afghan nationals and members of the party’s youth force for the November 24 protest. She further accused PTI Chairman Imran Khan of seeking to incite violence, stating that “Khan needs bodies” for his agenda.
Bukhari also referenced significant sums of money, alleging that two billion rupees from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were being allocated to fuel a second phase of unrest, similar to the May 9 events.
While discussing the ongoing security issues in Kurram and Parachinar, Bukhari criticized PTI leader Ali Gohar Khan for focusing solely on political protests while ignoring the worsening sectarian violence and terrorist attacks in those regions. “Over 40 people have been killed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, but Ghandapur is unconcerned,” she said, accusing him of concentrating more on political matters than the lives of citizens.
Bukhari also indirectly criticized Imran Khan’s wife, Bushra Bibi, stating, “It does not suit you to speak on matters of Sharia law,” referring to her political influence and involvement in party matters. She further emphasized that the true principles of Sharia do not endorse believing in rumors or hearsay, a reference to ongoing allegations against military figures and PTI’s political strategies.
The remarks come amid rising political tensions and security concerns across the country, as Pakistan braces for another major protest led by PTI.
