Progress Review Meeting Held for Foreign-Funded Development Projects in Balochistan

Quetta:A key meeting was held to review the progress of foreign-funded development projects in Balochistan, led by Chief Secretary Balochistan Shakil Qadir Khan and Federal Secretary of Economic Affairs Division Kazim Niaz. The meeting was attended by Country Director of the World Bank, Naji Benhasin, project directors, and other relevant officials.

The Chief Secretary emphasized the importance of these projects in promoting economic development and growth in the province. He stressed the need for the timely implementation and effective use of resources provided by foreign funds. Detailed progress reports on various ongoing and upcoming foreign-aid-driven initiatives were presented during the meeting.

The projects discussed include strengthening the provincial government’s capacity for water resource monitoring and management, improving community-based water management for irrigation in Balochistan, enhancing health and education services for refugees, creating employment opportunities for rural communities, ensuring the sustainability of businesses in selected districts of Balochistan, improving livelihoods and essential services, and increasing flood risk mitigation in flood-prone communities.

The Chief Secretary highlighted the importance of meeting project deadlines and ensuring that the goals align with the province’s development objectives. In addition to World Bank-funded projects, the meeting also reviewed projects funded by the Saudi Fund, Omani Grant, and Chinese-funded initiatives.
