Poor Sanitation in Pakistan Railways: Passengers Forced to Travel with Insects Despite Expensive Tickets

Lahore: Once again, Pakistan Railways is under fire for its poor sanitation standards, as passengers are reportedly being forced to travel in filthy conditions alongside insects, despite paying thousands of rupees for tickets.
According to details, despite repeated assurances by railway authorities regarding cleanliness, the ground reality tells a different story. Passengers traveling on trains like the Karachi Express have reported finding crawling insects and widespread filth in the train coaches, turning their journey into a nightmare.
Travelers have expressed serious concerns, stating that even in the premium AC Sleeper coaches—considered the most comfortable and expensive class—cleanliness is severely lacking. The presence of bugs not only causes discomfort but also poses health risks.
“We spend thousands of rupees on tickets, but the facilities provided are deeply disappointing. There’s no proper sanitation system, and insects can be seen crawling throughout the coaches,” complained one passenger.
Frustrated passengers have called on Federal Minister for Railways, Hanif Abbasi, to take immediate action. They are demanding regular fumigation and better hygiene measures across all trains to ensure a safe and comfortable journey for all.
