Jamaat-e-Islami to Stage Sit-in in Quetta for People’s Rights, Says MPA Hidayat-ur-Rehman

Quetta:The Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Balochistan and Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA), Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman Baloch, announced that a massive sit-in will be organized in Quetta soon, with the participation of one lakh people, to demand the rights of the people of Balochistan and to free them from oppression.

In his address at the Provincial Shura meeting of Jamaat-e-Islami in Karachi, Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman highlighted key issues such as the recovery of missing persons, access to resources, border restrictions, illegal trawler mafia, and the exploitation of the province’s coastlines. He also expressed concern over the imposition of incompetent people in power, contrary to the will of the people.

He stated that the core issue of Balochistan is the denial of the people’s right to self-governance and ownership of their resources. He emphasized that the root cause of Balochistan’s problems lies in the unconstitutional and undemocratic actions of ruling powers, as well as the illegal occupation and exploitation of Balochistan’s shores and resources.

Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman further condemned the forced disappearances and extrajudicial killings of political activists and youth in the region. He expressed firm opposition to these acts, calling them violations of basic human rights, freedom of expression, and other fundamental rights. He also demanded the immediate release and recovery of all missing persons.

He strongly condemned the border closures in Balochistan, including in Chaman, Taftan, Gwadar, Panjgur, and Mand, which have led to unemployment for over 3 million people. He called for the immediate opening of all borders and the recovery of Masoor Kakr, who remains missing.

Despite spending 85 billion rupees annually on security, Balochistan remains deprived of peace, which Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman described as a failure of security institutions. He advocated for the removal of the military and FC from Balochistan in order to restore peace and end the ongoing violence.

Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman also urged immediate action to curb the spread of narcotics in the province, particularly in educational institutions, and called for a ban on drug cultivation. He also demanded action against the illegal trawler mafia, which has devastated the livelihoods of fishermen and marine life along Balochistan’s coastline.

Furthermore, he condemned the illegal allotment of tribal lands to non-locals and called for the immediate revocation of such leases. He also urged that the military occupation of tribal lands in Quetta be stopped and that essential infrastructure projects, such as the metro in Quetta and the motorway from Zhob to Karachi, be completed.
