Pasni Fish Harbor Authority Faces Challenges Amidst Unfilled Director Role and Pension Payment Issues

Pasni:Pasni Fish Harbor Authority has been grappling with significant challenges over the past one and a half years, including the vacant position of Managing Director and unresolved cases of pay and pension for several retired employees. The annual grant provided by the provincial government for employee salaries has been discontinued, further complicating the situation for both retiring and current service employees.

According to details, Pasni Fish Harbor Authority, once a beneficial institution, used to not only pay salaries to its employees on time but also generated substantial revenue for the national exchequer through taxation. However, recent financial difficulties have severely impacted the local economy. Currently, the payment of salaries to Fish Harbor Authority employees depends solely on grants from the provincial government.

In June 2023, the provincial government had issued a grant of Rs. 15.90 million for employee salaries, which has now been exhausted by the end of the same month. Moreover, the position of Managing Director has remained vacant for the past one and a half years, exacerbating the challenges faced by the authority. During this period, several retired employees have been left without their pension payments, adding to their financial woes.

With the discontinuation of the grant for employee salaries, employees of the Fish Harbor Authority are once again facing financial distress.
