Pakistan’s Electricity Consumers to Get Relief with Installment Payment Facility

Islamabad:Efforts are underway to provide relief to electricity consumers across the country. It is expected that consumers will soon have the option to pay their electricity bills in multiple installments within a financial year.

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has proposed to offer consumers the installment facility based on the revenue requirements of Distribution Companies (DISCOs). In addition, NEPRA has also suggested an amendment to the Consumer Service Manual.

According to documents, NEPRA has invited stakeholders to submit their feedback on the proposed amendments to the Consumer Service Manual within the next seven days.

The document states that consumers will not be charged a markup for the timely payment of the first installment, while DISCOs will be allowed to impose a 14% markup on installment payments.

Previously, NEPRA had amended the Consumer Service Manual in June 2024, allowing only a one-time installment facility for electricity bills in a financial year.
