NDP’s Nasrullah Zere Alleges Rigging in PB-45 Elections and Calls for Re-Elections

Quetta:The Provincial President of the National Democratic Party (NDP) and candidate for PB-45, Nasrullah Zere, has claimed that his victory in the PB-45 elections was deliberately turned into a loss. Speaking at a press conference at his party’s office, Zere accused Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) and the Election Commission of conspiring together on January 3 to manipulate the election results.

Zere alleged that on election day, the voter lists at all 15 polling stations were tampered with, and 5,000 names were changed to benefit JUI. He also claimed that polling agents and voters found their names missing from the voter lists when they went to cast their ballots. Furthermore, Zere accused the Election Commission of appointing presiding officers who were not even government employees, indicating widespread irregularities in the election process.

He also pointed out that the results of the 15 polling stations were announced prematurely, declaring the PPP candidate’s victory unlawfully before the official results were even received.

“Just like the February 8, 2024, elections, the January 5 elections were also rigged, and my victory was intentionally turned into a loss,” Zere stated. He further demanded that the Chief Election Commissioner resign, holding the Election Commission responsible for facilitating the manipulation of the voting process in collaboration with JUI.

Zere insisted that the people of PB-45 should be given their rightful choice through fresh elections, as he accused the government of being complicit in the rigging. He emphasized that the National Democratic Party would not participate in JUI’s protests, as he holds them equally responsible for election fraud.

“We demand that the Election Commission re-conduct the elections in PB-45 to give the people their due rights,” Zere concluded. He was accompanied by former senator Raja Mohammad Raja, Qadir Agha, Khushal Khan, and other party leaders during the press conference.
