Quetta:Aslam Baloch, the Central Secretary for Information of the National Party, has announced the party’s support for the Baloch Unity Committee’s protests and demands. Speaking at a press conference at the Quetta Press Club, Baloch criticized the ongoing turmoil in Balochistan, describing it as a de facto martial law imposed through a puppet government established by Form 47.
Baloch condemned the Balochistan government’s unusual actions, including a two-day wheel-jam strike that has shut down all roads. Over 300 individuals have been arrested under Section 16 MPO in Quetta in the past two days. He demanded the immediate release of all detained and missing persons. Baloch also condemned the firing by security forces on the Baloch Unity Committee’s convoy in Mastung, which resulted in injuries.
At the press conference, attended by Balochistan Assembly member Kulsoom Niaz, former Assembly member Yasmeen Lehri, and other key figures, Baloch reiterated the National Party’s ongoing support for the Baloch Unity Committee. He called for the Balochistan government to address all the demands of the Baloch Unity Committee.
Baloch accused the current government of exacerbating the situation in Balochistan and taking advantage of the unrest. He noted the government’s recent actions, including the road blockades and the use of force against protesters, as examples of its failure to address the issues effectively. He highlighted the incident in Mastung where the convoy heading to a rally was fired upon and vehicles were damaged.
Baloch also criticized the government’s response to the peaceful rally in Gwadar, which was disrupted by road blockages. He pointed out that Balochistan Chief Minister Sardar Abdul Quddus Bizenjo’s declaration in the Assembly to prevent the Gwadar rally was a violation of constitutional rights.
He concluded by calling for the immediate presentation of missing persons in court and warned that failure to address these issues could lead to increased unrest. Baloch demanded the immediate release of all detainees and missing individuals, asserting that the government’s current actions are only fueling further discord.
