NADRA Introduces Facial Recognition System for Pensioners and Elderly, Set to Launch in January 2025

Islamabad:The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has announced the introduction of a new facial recognition system aimed at assisting pensioners and elderly citizens with identity verification. This new technology will be implemented starting from **January 15, 2025**, allowing citizens to authenticate their identity either through the **Pak ID Mobile App** or at NADRA service centers.

To discuss improvements to the biometric and identification verification systems, NADRA recently held an advisory conference at its headquarters. The conference focused on the challenges faced in identity verification and explored the measures NADRA is taking to ensure the smooth delivery of services to both regulators and citizens, without any hindrances.

A key feature of the new system is its convenience for elderly citizens, particularly those with faint or unclear fingerprints, a common issue among senior citizens. The facial recognition system has been designed to offer a seamless solution for these individuals, especially pensioners who often face difficulties in the fingerprint verification process.

**NADRA Chairman, Lieutenant General Muhammad Munir Afzal**, provided a detailed briefing on the challenges faced by various sectors in the identity verification system. He emphasized the need for innovations in the system to overcome these issues and improve service delivery. The conference also featured discussions on the specific challenges faced by elderly citizens, particularly pensioners, who encounter difficulties due to faint fingerprints.

With this new system, NADRA aims to make identity verification more accessible, especially for vulnerable groups, ensuring that no citizen is left behind in the modern digital age.
