Peshawar: Shocking revelations have emerged regarding massive recruitments in the police force and prisons during the previous government’s tenure in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to reports, between 2023 and February 2024, a staggering 5,000 appointments were made in police and jail departments. Additionally, details of expenditures worth billions for police equipment have also surfaced.
The purchases include laptops, mobile phones, firearms, and traffic police gear. Former Speaker Mushtaq Ghani raised questions in the assembly about these recruitments and expenditures during the previous government’s era, prompting the Ministry of Interior to possibly present answers in today’s session.
Government officials in the provincial assembly had previously raised objections over the budget allocations during the previous government’s tenure, particularly focusing on recruitments and fund utilization. Queries regarding these matters have been forwarded to the assembly secretariat for further deliberation.
