Major Crackdown Uncovers Multimillion-Rupee Water Theft Network
Karachi: In a major operation against water thieves in Karachi, the Rangers and the Water Corporation exposed a large-scale water theft syndicate operating under the guise of an RO (Reverse Osmosis) plant. The crackdown, carried out in the jurisdiction of the Sukkan Police Station, revealed that a powerful mafia had established an extensive network for stealing water.
According to Water Corporation officials, the mafia had been illegally siphoning off thousands of gallons of water daily from the corporation’s pipelines, resulting in significant financial losses to the government. The operation revealed that this theft had been ongoing for some time, with a substantial impact on the public water supply and revenue.
Officials pointed out that similar illegal activities were also detected earlier this year, in April, under the cover of the Zenith RO plant, where water was being stolen on a large scale. Legal action is being taken against the individuals involved, with cases being registered against them.
This operation highlights the persistent issue of water theft in Karachi, underscoring the need for stronger enforcement and accountability to prevent such illegal practices that harm both the economy and the public.
