Quetta:In a significant address to the Balochistan Bar Council on Monday, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, the head of the Movement for the Protection of Pakistan’s Constitution, emphasized the critical need for constitutional supremacy and empowering the parliament to steer the nation out of crises. Highlighting the recent elections, Achakzai asserted that allegations of rigged polls undermine democracy and called for a unified movement to uphold constitutional values.
Achakzai stressed that Pakistan could overcome economic challenges by responsibly managing its resources, suggesting that relief from IMF loans is achievable through effective utilization of natural assets. He appealed for national unity, urging citizens to participate actively in steering the country away from turmoil.
Furthermore, Achakzai advocated for empowering the Senate with equal authority as the National Assembly, ensuring balanced governance across all regions. He criticized external interference in Pakistan’s internal affairs and called for legislation to safeguard citizens’ rights against injustices.
Addressing concerns over migration, Achakzai proposed creating local opportunities to prevent over 7 million Pakistanis from seeking employment abroad. He condemned threats received by judiciary officials and underscored the need for robust security measures to protect constitutional institutions.
