Karachi Airport’s Runway Upgrade to Enable Landing of 600-Seater Aircraft by End of 2025

Construction work at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi, aimed at facilitating the landing of larger aircraft, is expected to be completed by the end of this year. Once completed, the airport will be capable of accommodating 600-seater Airbus A380 landings.

Airport authorities confirmed that construction is underway to upgrade the ‘07L’ runway to handle the largest aircraft. The new, modernized runway is set to be completed by the end of 2025, enabling the landing of the Airbus A380 and other large aircraft at Karachi Airport.

The authorities added that the new runway is being constructed by demolishing the old one, with the goal of increasing the airport’s capacity to handle long-haul and larger flights.

Several international airlines, including Emirates, have expressed interest in using the upgraded runway for their large aircraft operations. The new runway will significantly enhance Karachi’s ability to manage high-capacity international flights, strengthening its position as a major global aviation hub.
