Karachi: Prominent host and actress Juggan Kazim has disclosed being a victim of domestic violence from her former husband for over a year and a half. During a recent podcast, Juggan Kazim spoke about domestic abuse, recalling her bitter past experiences with such issues.
“I concealed my first marriage from my parents, it was a marriage of my choice and love, but within the first three weeks, my husband subjected me to violence,” Juggan Kazim revealed.
She further stated, “The first signs of abuse from a husband start with verbal abuse, which escalates to physical violence. When he first raised his hand, that was the moment a woman should decide because once it starts, it doesn’t stop.”
Juggan Kazim bravely shared, “Even in my first marriage, I faced this, but I endured it for one and a half years. I could have decided to separate then, but I didn’t because I was naive.”
“I thought my life would get worse if I stayed, and when I was seven months pregnant, my ex-husband subjected me to violence again, tore my clothes, and threw me out of the house,” she revealed.
She expressed gratitude to her neighbors who supported her during that difficult time. “I cannot hold anyone accountable for that violence because it was my own mistake to choose such a person for myself,” she said.
“When Noor Mukadam’s case went viral, everyone was talking about it on social media as if the same had happened to me, but I chose not to speak because I didn’t want my past to go viral,” Juggan Kazim said.
She added, “The past is behind me now. My son Hamza is 18 years old, and thank God, Faisal (her second husband) has raised Hamza, and Faisal is his father.”
It should be noted that Juggan Kazim’s first marriage ended in divorce, and she has a son (Hamza) from her first marriage. She remarried actor Faisal Naqvi in 2013.
