Indian Government Introduces “Waqf Amendment Bill” to Seize Muslim Assets, Faces Strong Opposition

In a controversial move, the Hindu nationalist Modi government in India has introduced the “Waqf Amendment Bill” in the Lok Sabha, which is being seen as an attempt to seize billions of rupees worth of Waqf properties belonging to Muslims. The bill has been met with strong opposition from Congress members.
Rahul Gandhi, a senior Congress leader, condemned the bill, stating that its primary objective is to marginalize Muslims and usurp their property rights. He further claimed that the bill is an attack on the Constitution by the BJP and its allies, and warned that it could set a dangerous precedent for targeting other communities in the future.
In response to the bill, the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has organized a protest in Andhra Pradesh, voicing their strong opposition against the proposed legislation.
