Google Maps Leads to Tragic Accident in India, 3 People Killed After Falling from Under-construction Bridge
Islamabad:Google Maps, widely considered a reliable guide for navigation around the world, has once again come under scrutiny after a tragic incident in India where three people lost their lives following its directions.
According to Indian media reports, the accident occurred in the town of Faridpur, district Badaun, when a vehicle following the route suggested by Google Maps plunged from an under-construction bridge. The vehicle was traveling from Badaun city towards Faridpur when the fatal fall took place.
The vehicle fell from a height of 50 feet, killing three young men on the spot, including two brothers. Family members of the victims reported that the GPS system had shown the bridge as a clear path. However, when the vehicle reached the location, they discovered that the bridge was under construction and had no signs or barriers to warn them of the danger.
The authorities have stated that had proper barriers or warning signs been placed at the site, this tragic incident could have been avoided. Police have launched an investigation into the matter, and are looking into the circumstances surrounding the accident. The local administration has also been urged to ensure that such incidents do not occur again by marking hazardous areas more clearly.
