Imran Khan Faces 188 Cases Nationwide, Former Lawyer Shere Afzal Marwat Faces 15 Cases
Islamabad:The number of cases registered against Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has now reached 188 across the country. Meanwhile, his former lawyer and PTI leader, Shere Afzal Marwat, is facing a total of 15 cases.
According to a report from the Ministry of Interior, 99 cases have been registered against Imran Khan in Punjab, 2 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and 76 in the federal capital, Islamabad. Additionally, the report reveals that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has 7 cases and inquiries pending against the former prime minister, while the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is investigating 3 cases. Khan is also awaiting the outcome of his appeal in the Toshakhana criminal case, challenging his conviction.
Meanwhile, a report submitted by Islamabad Police to the Islamabad High Court regarding the cases filed against Shere Afzal Marwat indicates that the total number of cases against him in Islamabad has reached 15.
The report was presented during a hearing in the Islamabad High Court regarding a request for details on the cases registered against the former PTI leader. During the hearing, DSP Legal, Sajad Cheema, informed the court that all First Information Reports (FIRs) filed against Shere Afzal Marwat had been included in the report. Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir inquired how many of these FIRs were sealed.
In his remarks, Justice Tahir addressed Shere Afzal Marwat, saying, “The party you belong to had done the same when it was in power. Injustice was being done then, and it is still being done today.”
Shere Afzal Marwat assured the court that no report had been received from the Punjab Police. In response, the court issued notices to the Inspector General of Punjab Police and directed DSP Legal to submit copies of the sealed FIRs.
