HRCP Expresses Deep Concern Over Situation in Balochistan, Urges Government to Address Issues Peacefully
Quetta:The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) has issued a statement expressing serious concern over the situation in Balochistan, particularly in Gwadar, Mastung, and Turbat. The HRCP highlighted ongoing efforts by Baloch citizens to organize a proposed gathering for Rajee Metchi and reported receiving information about violence against protesters, resulting in injuries.
The statement also mentioned alleged attempts by state authorities to intimidate leaders of the Baloch Unity Committee through arrests and enforced disappearances to disrupt the gathering. Due to connectivity blackouts in some areas of the province, the HRCP emphasized the difficulty of confirming all reports but urgently called on federal and provincial governments to avoid repeating past mistakes.
HRCP has demanded the formation of a high-level parliamentary delegation to meet with Baloch representatives and address their concerns carefully. The Commission asserted that, as Pakistani citizens, protesters should not be deprived of their constitutional right to assemble peacefully under any circumstances.
